Is there a way to add a task directly to a particular Phase on the board?

I think, it would be helpful to select your Process Phase when you are adding your task, like a dropdown, which lists all the Phases. As having 2 buttons Add to Backlog, hand on board, still requires a user to find that task from a list and move it to an appropriate phase.

    Hi Sanjeev,

We normally let other members of the AgileZen community answer this forum, but I thought I may be of some help. Currently the only way to add a story to a different phase directly is through our API. I would be happy to add your request to our feature request log so it will be up for consideration for a future release. Is it often you create cards that do not go to the backlog or the first phase? It would help to know the scenario in which this occurs. We would appreciate any additional input you may have on the feature :)

    Sincerely,

    Mary

Our team does this fairly regularly (for example, if a story doesn't need attention from a certain team). I'm assuming for now that if we use "hang on board" it will put the story in the first phase, thereby beginning the work time counter immediately without counting against wait time. If we then immediately drag the card from there to the desired phase, there will negligible impact on the reporting from that point onwards.

    Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for the additional input, that helps us understand more why this feature would be beneficial. We appreciate it!

    Sincerely,

    Hi Mary

Yes, we do create tasks which do not belong to Backlog very often.
