Currently we do not have a "Copy" button or a way to setup
pre-defined tasks or story templates, but I will be happy to note
your support to have those features added on our request log. The
only work around I can think of is to create your task list and use
our API to import it to the stories, this would at least prevent
you from having to retype the list each time. Thanks for letting us
know what we can do to improve AgileZen, we really appreciate the
Thanks for the reply. Let me explain our core scenarios to you to flesh out your feature request.
We have systems and processes built around development that need to be honored for every story. Some larger efforts involve presentations, documentation or executive signoffs, but even the smaller surgical efforts follow our systems and some core steps. We have four primary paths we follow for stories, so the ability to create/edit four templates would be sufficient for our particular projects.
I also handle some property management and am playing with AgileZen as a tool for managing my projects/repairs/commitments in that arena. It seems very useful at first blush, but again the ability to add templates would add huge value given that there are communications and follow-ups we use for every story. In this arena I could use quite a few more templates (10-20?) – four would be insufficient.

Thank you so much for the great detailed description of what the
feature would need to be functional for you :) We really appreciate
the wonderful feedback and I will be sure to include these details
on our request log. Thanks again for your input and please don't
hesitate to send suggestions on making AgileZen better anytime.
Carlos - Thanks for the idea but it's not a question of needing
to cut&paste text. I understand that I could create a single
new card and cut&paste text into it using Clippings or many
My need is to clone and edit story templates predefined with
5-500 cards, each card pre-filled with tasks, priorities, owners,
etc. in the correct fields. This would save time, reduce errors and
promote consistent processes in my project.
I could possibly do some of this with macros or scripting on top
of a scraping tool, but there are severe shortcomings to this
approach. (1) Editing these would take place outside of the
AgileZen environment and thus lose any WYSIWYG hints about meaning
or alerts about destructive edits I might make by mistake. (2) The
scripts would be fragile and easily broken by AgileZen updates to
the UI/environment. (3) It would also take a strong effort to
document and publish these scripts so other members of my
organization could use them effectively. This kludge would turn out
to be very expensive and of limited usefulness.
We've created an API that can download stories to an MS Excel
spreadsheet and also upload task to an AgileZen board from the
Can I suggest that the wizards at AgileZen create a similar
spreadsheet that can pull all the information from a story down and
push it back up to a board. Then publish the spreadsheet so all can
use it until they have created a copy function within the
The ability to move cards from board to board would be a huge
positive for us and something we're hanging out for.

Hi Bruce and all,
First, thank you for sharing your feedback with us around this
feature. We will not be implementing copying stories or story
templates in the current version of AgileZen. However, I wanted to
let you, and everyone involved in this discussion, know about the
new AgileZen 2.0 beta product and our new, improved feedback forums
where you can easily submit votes on features you'd find high value
in for your work flow.
The new AgileZen 2.0 product is currently free while in its beta
stages, and the new, improved feedback forum is located at http://betafeedback.agilezen.com.
AgileZen 2.0 will receive the majority of our new feature and
enhancement development. Going forward, we will continue to support
AgileZen 1.0 for some time, but we will move all new development to
the AgileZen 2.0 product.
Another user already opened up a related feedback item for the
beta product here:
-- you can create an account at beta.agilezen.com to participate in
commenting on this item and adding your supporting votes. Once you
create an account at https://beta.agilezen.com/signup,
simply log in and navigate to the link above. If and when we do add
story templates or any solution like this (ie: copying stories), we
will update everyone who has added supporting votes to this item
via the link above with the change in development/release
We always value your feedback and appreciate you sharing it with
us! I would encourage you all to create accounts for the beta
product and share your feedback. We would love for you to check it
out, if you haven't already, and share your thoughts around ways we
can improve your workflow. (We even have a data migration tool to
move over your AgileZen 1.0 data to the AgileZen 2.0 beta upon
